About Conserve Georgia

Conserve Georgia is Georgia’s statewide energy, land and water conservation marketing and outreach campaign. Initiated in April 2008 by Governor Perdue, Conserve Georgia is a partnership of Georgia’s government agencies, residents, businesses, institutions, and non-profit organizations working together to conserve Georgia’s natural resources. The campaign includes a comprehensive website and educational materials.

Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia
The governing and management authority of public higher education in Georgia.

Georgia Department of Agriculture
Protects and promotes agriculture and consumer interests, and ensures an abundance of safe food and fiber for Georgia.

Georgia Department of Community Affairs
Operates a host of state and federal grant programs; serves as the state’s lead agency in housing finance and development; provides comprehensive planning, technical and research assistance to local governments; and serves as the lead agency for the state’s solid waste reduction efforts.

Georgia Department of Education
Oversees public education throughout the state. Also ensures that laws and regulations pertaining to education are followed and that state and federal money appropriated for education is properly allocated to local school systems.

Georgia Department of Natural Resources
Responsible for the management and conservation of Georgia’s natural and cultural resources.

Georgia Department of Transportation
Maintains and improves mobility by providing a safe, seamless, intermodal, environmentally-sensitive transportation system for the state of Georgia.

Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority
Administers a wide variety of programs that provide financial assistance and other support services to improve Georgia’s environment. GEFA’s program focus areas are water, wastewater, solid waste, recycling, land conservation, energy efficiency and fuel storage tanks for local governments, other state agencies and non-profit organizations.

Georgia Environmental Protection Division
Protects and restores Georgia’s environment. Takes the lead in ensuring clean air, water and land for Georgia’s citizens.

Georgia Forestry Commission
Provides leadership, service, and education in the protection and conservation of Georgia’s forest resources.

Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission
Protects, conserves and improves the soil and water resources of the state of Georgia.
