Energy Conservation

The Governor’s Energy Challenge
Resource providing links and other information to help Georgians match the Governor’s energy reduction goals.

Energy Innovation Center
The EIC will enhance the economic development of Georgia by leading the commercialization of bioenergy with feedstocks grown or available within the state, furthering the generation of alternative energy and promoting energy sector manufacturing.

Georgia Carbon Registry
The purpose of the Carbon Registry is to provide forest landowners, municipalities, and public and private entities with an official mechanism for the development, documentation, and reporting of carbon sequestration projects undertaken in Georgia. Participation in the Registry is voluntary.

Biorefining and Carbon Cycling Program
The program focuses on research, outreach and education concerning aspects of biomass production and conversion to value added products including fuels, energy and specialty chemicals.

Land Conservation

Georgia Land Conservation Program
Provides landowners with land conservation funding options including grants, low interest loans, and tax incentives that augment local, state, and federal funding sources to achieve the permanent conservation of land through the acquisition of conservation easements and fee simple ownership.

Forest Legacy
Forest Legacy is a federal program in partnership with state of Georgia that supports state efforts to protect environmentally sensitive forest lands. Designed to encourage the protection of privately owned forest lands, FLP is an entirely voluntary program.

Forest Stewardship
The Forest Stewardship Program (FSP) provides technical assistance, through the Georgia Forestry Commission, to nonindustrial private forest owners to encourage and enable active long-term forest management.

Forest Health
The Forest Health program provides both field support and technical outreach to land managers to alert them of any regional forest health issues, training to recognize and diagnose them, and offers mitigating advice to minimize their impacts.

Tree Seedlings
Provides quality, forest tree planting stock to Georgia landowners at reasonable prices.

Agricultural Pollution Prevention Program
Works with Georgians concerned about soil and water quality who want to ensure that their land is protected for future generations. Provides technical resources and advice for farmers and rural residents.

UGA Cooperative Extension
Promotes economic viability and global competitiveness of Georgia agriculture, fosters environmental stewardship and wise management of natural resources, and ensures the production and distribution of safe food, feed and fiber.
